programme of activities organised by Stockport County Community Foundation and
the the Equity Foundation. In partnership they delivered a project to a wide
social and ethnic group from amongst the Equity Housing Groups tenants. The
aims of the project were to extol the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and
improve the social skills of those taking part. The participating children took
part in different activities over a three day period.
1 The group discussed the the benefits
of a healthy lifestyle focusing on the reasons to follow a balanced diet and
partake in regular physical exercise. Everybody was encouraged to join in the
discussion and swap ideas. We were very impressed by the enthusiasm of the
2 Peak Mountaineering provided today’s
challenge. The youngsters had to work together to complete an orienteering
course. Points on a map had to be followed to reach a final destination. Once
again, outstanding teamwork was displayed.
3 The final day was split into a morning
and afternoon session. In the morning the children received a varied programme
of football skills training from the Community Foundation coaches at Stockport
Powerleague. The afternoon was taken up with an unexpected and very well
received trip to Parrs Wood for tenpin bowling. The bowling excursion was a
reward in recognition of the fantastic attitude and behaviour exhibited by the
youngsters over the three days.
the day came to an end the children were each given a ‘goody bag’ which
included a family ticket to see the mighty Stockport County at Edgeley Park.

success with all participants learning new skills and interacting well with new
friends from a variety of backgrounds. I would like to thank the Equity
Foundation who provided the funding and look forward to working with them in
Clewlow Customer Engagement coordinator “It’s just great
to work in collaboration with the local football club to offer health &
wellbeing activities for our customers. Just another example of how the Equity
Foundation funding has made a difference to the community.”
