Stockport County Community Foundation has successfully been awarded funding from the Equity Foundation, to set up 5 different projects for the local community.

Project 1 is to support low income families: The aims of this project are to help low income families have the opportunity to attend free holiday provision. This will help young people to keep fit and active during the school holidays.

Project 2 Fifty Plus Fitness Sessions in Equity’s Shelter Accommodation Schemes: Our coaching team will be delivering light exercises to the residents of the Equity Foundation shelter accommodation schemes. The sessions are designed to help with mobility and give the participants the confidence to keep active. We feel the most important aspect of the sessions being delivered are to get the residents to interact and socialise with other residents living within the sheltered accommodation.

Project 3 Summer Holiday Antisocial Behaviour Sessions: It has been identified that areas within Equity Foundation Housing stock in Stockport have seen an increase of antisocial behaviour in the parks across Stockport. Our Coaches will be engaging with 11 – 18 year olds by delivering football sessions in a fun, safe, and structured environment. The staff members delivering the session will be seen as positive role models for many young people attending the football sessions. Whilst the sessions are being delivered this would be a great opportunity for other agencies to engage with the young people causing issues on the estates.

Project 4 The Equity Foundation 5 Aside Football Tournament: The football tournament is a great way for the wider community to represent and engage with other members of their town/estate in a football competition aimed at men aged 18 + participating in a football tournament.

Project 5 Disability Football & Multi Skills Sessions: The sessions are a great way to work and deliver football and multi skills sessions within the special schools in Stockport.

The funding received from Equity Foundation will give many people from a wide range of different abilities and backgrounds the opportunity to work with Stockport County Community Foundation.

Matthew Bailey (Assistant SCFC Community Foundation Manager): “The 5 projects Stockport County Community Foundation will be delivering will give us the opportunity to work with a variety of people in the local community. This gives them access to work with Stockport County FC. I would like to personally thank Equity Foundation who have provided the funding for all 5 projects to go head. This project has made a really impact on the local community.  We look forward to working with Equity Foundation in the future.”

Anna Clewlow (Equity Foundation Customer Engagement Coordinator): It’s just great to work in collaboration with the local football club to offer health & wellbeing activities for our customers. Just another example of how the Equity Foundation funding has made a difference to the community.”
