Adrian Rigby-Bates, Community Foundation Disability Development Officer who attended the presentation to receive the cheque said:

“I would like to thank the Vernon Building Society for choosing us as one of the 16 shortlisted charities to take part in this year’s Vernon Jubilee Fund. We were absolutely delighted as It has given our charity the opportunity to talk to thousands of people in our local community to raise awareness about the good work that we do. I am grateful to everyone in the Community Foundation and the Football Club who worked tirelessly as one big team pulling together to get as many votes as possible. I would like to say a BIG THANKS on behalf of the Community Foundation to those people in the club and to the general public who supported the charity by voting for us. It really did show how the local community can make such a positive difference with their support”

Adrian went on to say:

“Stockport County Community Foundation is the community element of Stockport County Football Club and will use the donation to support their coaching sessions and buy equipment for the 120 children and adults with a range of physical and learning disabilities that take part in their football and multisport project. We provide weekly coaching sessions and monthly football tournaments for people with disabilities and are desperately in need of new equipment for this project. The Vernon Jubilee Fund will make such a positive difference and will be spent on football kits for children and adults, training bibs, footballs, ball bags, wheelchair football, training cones, plastic ladders, plastic hurdles, pop-up goals, water bottles, shin pads, goalkeeping gloves and first-aid kits”.
