£1,126.29 at their prestigious Charity Ball Fundraiser held at the Alderley
Edge Hotel Bar and Restaurant on Saturday 24th November 2018.
Over 60 people attended the Black-Tie Ball which proved both
a fabulous and fun evening of entertainment hosted by Andy Powell who was the
MC for the event. Funds were raised on the night through a charity auction and
raffle with a range of great prizes including a County hospitality package, a
signed County framed shirt, family match tickets, a £275.00 voucher for
Woodsons Cycles and a set of high spec GHD hair straighteners.
Community Foundation Chairman Ian Lees, Manager Dave Wardle
and Disability Football Development Officer Adrian Rigby-Bates were delighted
to be joined on the evening by County Manager Jim Gannon to support the occasion
which was very special to Blake Slater who is a big County fan! Blake who has a
long-standing connection with the Community Foundation as a youngster attending
their holiday soccer schools in the 90’s decided to choose Stockport County
Community Foundation as Local Gardens “Charity Partner” to raise funds for
their Disability Football Programme.
Blake Slater, Managing Director of Local Gardens said:
“We wanted to innovate and thank our clients by inviting
them to a grand charity ball that they would remember, and we felt that it was
a great opportunity to support a local charity too. We were very pleased to
choose Stockport County Community Foundation because of our long-standing
history and connections with the club. The Foundation does some really valuable
and rewarding work in the community and the funds raised will go to their
Disability Football Programme which is a very worthy cause and one we are proud
and humbled to support”.
Adrian Rigby-Bates, Disability Football Development Officer
for the Community Foundation responded:
“Everyone at the Community Foundation would like to say a
Big Thank You to Blake Slater and Local Gardens for making us their charity
partner and the beneficiary of the marvellous £1,126.29 funds raised at the Ball.
As Disability Football Development Officer, I am very proud of the
opportunities we offer within our local community to over 250 children, young
people and adults (Male and Female) with a range of physical and learning
disabilities and mental health illness to engage with football and sport and
promoting a healthy lifestyle. The money raised from the Charity Ball will go
towards purchasing some new and much needed sports equipment including
footballs, training bibs, training cones, pop up goals and first aid kits which
will directly benefit those people accessing the programme”.
