Stockport County Community Foundation recently entered two teams in the Ability Counts Cup Competition. In a very entertaining and close fought final one of our teams was victorious defeating Manchester Amputees 2-1. This is our first cup success and hopefully will not be the last.

We were able to enter two teams in the competition because of the increasing number of players participating in our weekly training sessions and the great commitment shown by them.  Community Foundation Disability Officer Jordan Raynes said "It's such a great experience for the team winning a trophy for the first time. A fantastic achievement by the players some of whom have been with us since we started in 2010. However the most important thing is that the players are enjoying their football. Winning is the icing on the cake"

Away from the glory of a cup win our teams compete in the The Pan Disability league. The league was set up in 2010 as part of the Every Players Counts Fund. This was an initiative put in place by the Football League Trust to provide adults with learning and physical Impairments the opportunity to play football in a competitive but enjoyable environment. In 2012 when the funding came to an end the Cheshire FA asked the Community Foundation to manage the league and oversee the continuing growth. Our very own paralympian Jordan Raynes is the current League Coordinator.
