Stockport County Community Foundation Disability team played in their first competitive fixtures on 20th June. All the players were playing against other pan disability teams from all over Cheshire which was a great occasion for all the players involved. This was the last round of fixtures and this sets up the young County team for next year to play regularly in the Cheshire FA Disability League.
The young disability County team who have only been training with each other for a couple of months competed really well with some very established teams and did themselves proud as this was the first time they have played in the league.
Disability Officer Jordan Raynes, who has previously captained England at the Paralympics, said, ďAll the players have really excelled as part of this new Stockport County team. It is very rewarding to see a group of young people with different disabilities play so well and with such togetherness. The team spirit is first class. A few months ago some of these players had never played football in a structured environment so to be able to play in their first competitive environment for the first time is fantastic. All at Stockport County wish them luck for next season!"
The Pan Disability project weekly sessions have been funded by The Football Conference Trust and we thank them for their continued support.
